The Director, Social Impact Stakeholder Engagement and Content Creation will be responsible for driving the Visa Social Impact team’s content creation efforts, building an engaging narrative through ongoing storytelling. The Director will establish close connections with key Visa Social Impact partners to track results of key initiatives and support the Social Impact team’s engagement with key external stakeholders. This individual will play a critical role in helping the Social Impact team communicate key themes, drawing from Visa’s business and social impact initiatives.

Responsible for collaborating across the Social Impact team globally, the Director will become deeply familiar with Visa’s Social Impact Inclusive Growth and Community programs, along with Visa Foundation programs and grants. Partnerships will be formed with subject matter experts and Visa’s Global Corporate Communications team to communicate the team’s mission and share results, through the lens of inclusion and sustainability. There will be an opportunity to integrate content across the organization, connecting our shared purpose, shared humanity, shared planet and shared communities within and outside of Visa.

This individual will also work to develop standard content across the Social Impact team, including developing case studies, maintaining key messaging documents, creating executive presentations, and supporting executive visibility, in close partnership with the Global Corporate Communications team. The individual will also support Visa’s Social Impact thought leadership agenda, ensuring we are maintaining a consistent narrative that explains Visa’s corporate purpose and role in society.

This role requires a dynamic, well-rounded team player with exceptional writing and critical thinking skills, who can create proactive communications strategies and develop clear and streamlined content that clearly communicates our key messages.

This position is based in the San Francisco Bay Area and will report to the Vice President, Business Planning and Operations, Inclusive Impact and Sustainability.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop strategic and tactical efforts to bring Social Impact initiatives to life, with goals aligned with business priorities and in close collaboration with Corporate Communications
  • Draft, maintain, and keep up-to-date compelling narratives and stories in support of company purpose and Social Impact priorities, as well as those from Inclusion & Diversity and Sustainability
  • Create high-quality written content that conveys Visa’s corporate and purpose narrative, including but not limited to: program and initiative narratives, case studies, impact outcome summaries, blog posts, fact sheets, FAQs, executive briefing materials and presentations
  • Ensure we are driving integrated storytelling and editorial themes across Social Impact communications and other business units as applicable to tell a cohesive story to internal and external audiences, in close collaboration with Corporate Communications
  • Support regional and global thought leadership efforts through content creation, amplification efforts, and executive visibility during events and on social media
  • Assist in the development and planning of key initiatives, collaborating with a cross-functional team in developing key messages
  • Build and maintain close relationships with key partners to help capture the impact of our programs and initiatives, and tell stories that bring this impact to life
  • Support the development of, and manage the execution of, Visa’s stakeholder engagement in the social impact, sustainability and inclusion & diversity spaces, including stakeholder mapping and management of key relationships
  • Manage partnerships with select stakeholders to position Visa as a thought leader and enable connections and partnership opportunities across the ecosystem
  • Collaborate with the Global Communications team to position Visa’s purpose and Social Impact work externally to reach our key audiences
  • Build and maintain a strong network of business partners across all levels of the global organization
  • Develop subject matter expertise in payments, Visa’s business, and Visa’s Inclusive Impact & Sustainability strategy and initiatives


  • 10 years of work experience with a bachelor's degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an advanced degree (MBA/Master's) with progressive track record of experience in the field of public relations and corporate communications.

  • 12-15 years of work experience with a bachelor's degree or 10 years of work experience with an advanced degree (MBA/Master's) working in the field of public relations/ corporate communications
  • Possess a blend of corporate communications (thought leadership, messaging, media relations and executive visibility) and social impact experience, and a familiarity with the technology or payments industry
  • Experience navigating and synthesizing various viewpoints
  • Experience building relationships with key organizations and partners in the social impact field
  • Deep understanding of the connection points between business and social impact
  • Stellar writing, editing skills and oral communications skills
  • Fluent in multi-channel campaigns including social, digital, earned and paid media
  • Client services background, with an ability to work effectively in a global, matrixed environment and with blurry boundaries regarding roles/responsibilities
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and manage multiple projects, often on short deadlines and under pressure
  • Proven ability to think ahead, engage proactively and take initiative
  • Self-starter approach to work and strong problem solver
  • Ability to work remotely with limited supervision
